Mark Twain, possibly the first great stand-up comic, once said, "The right word may be effective, but no word was ever as effective as a rightly timed pause."
While I regret my absence from these pages in the last weeks, it was rightly timed. It's long been my hope to build Bigmouthery into a blog that readers can visit daily, always finding something new, enjoyable, out of the ordinary and perhaps, on rare occasion, even a little enlightening. Circumstances, including an upcoming show rehearsal pic above), have once again conspired to limit my output.
In anticipation of possible slow times, I post-dated publication of a few pre-packaged generic blogs this year (celebrations of notable birthdays and odd events for example)in the hope they would keep traffic ticking over. While it's not dropped back to the eight page views a day I enjoyed for the first two years of Bigmouthery, page views have declined.
There will be new features and segments appearing soon, including interviews and profiles with some of my local theatre community's leading lights and inspirations, both onstage and off, and possibly even a day-to-day diary chronicling a new musical project I'm hoping to kick off during the southern summer, provisionally titled 'rxnxr'.
Bigmouthers...I need your help. I'm not one of those people who has as the cornerstone of their existence the doughily-formed notion that humans have been placed on this Earth for 'a reason'. Having said that, I'm still fairly certain that, purpose or no, I can contribute a lot more to this little misfit life than wading through the sludge of soulless hand-to-mouth day jobs and rat racery. I would love, in the next year, to make Bigmouthery a professional blog. To do that, I have to increase traffic.
Please, if you have a few minutes spare during your online trawlings and trollings, spread the word of Bigmouthery. Share your favourite entries with friends via email and social networks. Google the word 'bigmouthery' so it eventually appears in their autofill drop down. Slip it into conversations with friends. Anything you can do would be great, and hugely appreciated.
According to traffic ranking site Alexa, Bigmouthery is the 6,567,644th most viewed page online. Youporn.com, whose content I shall leave to your imagination, is ranked at 72. Now I'm not saying you should stop wanking, but I'm thinking if you can spare the time to look at grown up people who love each other very much expressing that love in ways both intimate and moist, you can help to push Bigmouthery into the top few million within the next 12 months.
If you do, I may even post some pictures of boobies.
