Route 66 - The Mother Road (Part One).

They call it The Main Street of America. The Mother Road. Satan's Turnpike. The Horseman's Lament. Route 66. (I made two of those up.) Running from Chicago to Los Angeles, Route 66 was an uninterrupted stretch of road spanning nearly 2,500 miles. As a major highway it's no more, replaced mostly by Interstate 40, a longer and far more clinical slap of tar and concrete running from Wilmington, North Carolina to Barstow, California. Things have changed a lot on the Mother Road aka Margaret's Snotstring. Some would say it's long dead, but the timorous ghosts of Route 66 still frequent the roadsides...and it's these hauntings that form the bulk of today's Bigmouthery in America.
