Exit, Stage East (A Retirement of Sorts).

May I speak candidly? Thanks.

I’ve been acting in one form or other since the age of ten. In 2005, after playing the dream role of Salieri in Peter Shaffer’s masterpiece Amadeus, I decided that messing around with acting was not enough. It was a road that had to be ploughed with greater fervour and dedication, mainly because I realised that my talents elsewhere were either slight or non-existent. Between the first Amadeus (toured it twice since) and last Saturday night, I’ve fronted up for about 25 stage shows, a half dozen short films, a couple of features and some other bits and pieces.

It’s been a hell of a ride.

But, my lieblings, my dahlings, my poopsie doodles…last Saturday was my last performance on a stage in this country...for the foreseeable future, anyway.
